At Vijayshri School of Harikatha, students embarked on an inspiring journey called "My Village, My Deity." This unique project ignites a passion in young minds to explore the rich history and heritage of their local temples. By delving into the origins of these sacred spaces, discovering the kings and queens who built them, and understanding the architectural marvels, students connect deeply with their cultural roots.
The project goes beyond mere historical inquiry. It encourages children to uncover their family's traditions based on their Kuladeivam (family deity) or Ishtadeivam (preferred deity), and the village deities revered by their ancestors. This exploration not only brings to light unknown temple facts but also preserves the invaluable Indian temple history for future generations.
Through this initiative, students have unearthed fascinating stories and legends, contributing to a broader understanding of our spiritual and architectural legacy. The project fosters a sense of pride and curiosity, ensuring that the ancient wisdom and heritage of our temples are not lost to time.
In essence, "My Village, My Deity" is more than a school project. It is a movement towards safeguarding and celebrating our rich Indian temple heritage, one story at a time.
